Charlie Boyer, Zone 4 – Chairman
Charlie currently farms sixty acres near Eagle Point with his wife, Pam. They raise grass hay and grass fed lamb. Charlie is a retired natural resource professional who worked in six western states before settling in Oregon. His career centered around environmental issues involving grazing management, oil and gas development, coal mining, desert land entry development, and timber management.
He has been on the District Board since 1998 and have held the office of Vice Chair and Secretary Treasurer, and is the current Chair. He has served on the Oregon soil and Water Commission since 1999.
Charlie's goals in serving on the Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District are to share some of his experiences (successes and failures) on the management of natural resources between economic gains and long term resource sustainability. He believes that without a vibrant economy, there cannot be long term sustainability of our natural resources because we will not be able to pay the costs of maintaining clean air, clean water, open space, healthy forests and grass lands, and functioning cities.
