Gordon Jones, Director Emeritus

Gordon grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania learning about agriculture on his grandfather’s 140-acre field crop farm. Gordon is trained as a forage agronomist and pasture ecologist with degrees from Virginia Tech and Warren Wilson College.

Gordon moved to Talent in 2017 to serve as general agriculture extension faculty at the OSU Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center. He conducts research, teaches extension classes, and provides technical assistance around pasture, hay, and hemp management, soil fertility, cover crops, and pesticide stewardship in Jackson and Josephine counties. Gordon is currently serving as the President of the Oregon Forage and Grassland Council. Gordon served as an Associate Director for Jackson Soil and Water Conservation District from 2018-2021; in 2021, he was appointed to serve as the JSWCD Zone 1 Director and served in this role until January 2023. He is now an Emeritus Director for JSWCD.
