Getting ready for campfire season? Remember to always buy it where you burn it! Transporting firewood across distances, e.g. beyond county lines, can have the unintended consequence of transporting insects and diseases that threaten forest health.
Pests such as pine beetles and wood borers and diseases such as sudden oak death are present in Oregon, can be transported on firewood, and have had devastating impacts across forests and communities.
Don't let your fun be the start of the next invasion: protect the trees! Buy it where you burn it AND always check campfire regulations and burn safely.
